Trevi Fountain - Wikipedia

Rome is said to have been founded by twin brothers, Romulus and Remus in 753 BC.  It has the Trevi Fountain, where coins are donated to charity; the Colosseum, a famous amphitheater, which could be flooded to re-enact naval battles.  There are more than 900 churches and over 200 fountains and the Spanish Steps are wonderful.  It has a rich history and landmarks like the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon and Vatican City.  It is the cradle of Western civilization and is the home of the Catholic Church.  There is so much to see and experience.  The food is incredible and the gelato is a must.  It is also fun to sit in the Piazza Navona, have a gelato and enjoy the people, scenery, etc.

Pisa Tower Pictures [HD] | Download ...

Florence, the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. You could spend a month in Florence and not see all of its museums.  One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto. The Galleria dell'Accademia displays Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture. The Uffizi Gallery exhibits Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and da Vinci’s “Annunciation.”

The Leaning Tower of Pisa, or simply the Tower of Pisa, is the campanile, or freestanding bell tower, of Pisa Cathedral. It is known for its nearly four-degree lean, the result of an unstable foundation. The tower is one of three structures in Pisa's Cathedral Square, which includes the cathedral and Pisa Baptistry.

Salerno, Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a 32 mile stretch of coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula, in the Campania region. It’s a popular holiday destination, with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. The coastal road between the port city of Salerno and clifftop Sorrento winds past grand villas, terraced vineyards and cliffside lemon groves.

Messina is a harbor city in northeast Sicily, separated from mainland Italy by the Strait of Messina. It’s known for the Norman Messina Cathedral, with its Gothic portal, 15th-century windows and an astronomical clock on the bell tower. Nearby are marble fountains decorated with mythological figures, like the Fontana di Orione, with its carved inscriptions, and the Neptune Fountain, topped by a statue of the sea god.

Santorini Island, Greece

Akrotiri - Minoan Archaeological Site ...A Glimpse of Cambodia's Coast: 24 Hours in Sihanoukville & Otres Beach | Passions and Places  ??Santorini Island ?? Cyclades ...

Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. It was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, forever shaping its rugged landscape. The whitewashed, cubiform houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). They overlook the sea, small islands to the west and beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.  In the second photo you can see where the cruise ships bring people in by tenders and the road or cable car to take you to the top of the cliffs.

No fence for the Academy of Athens ...

Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece. If you have a chance eat some pastry or food in Athens.  It is amazing!
